DEVOURMENT Bassist To Take Over Vocal Duties
July 9, 2005Bassist Mike Majewski of the reformed Texas-based underground death metallers DEVOURMENT has announced that he will be taking over the vocal duties in the group after the recent departure of original frontman Wayne Knupp. Ruben Rosas, who had initially taken Knupp's place on the band's 1999 full-length release "Molesting the Decapitated" (United Guttural),has moved from vocals to full-time guitar duties, replacing original guitarist Brian "Brain" Wynn. In addition, former SUTURE and current SCARLINE/RHOME drummer Erik Park has replaced longtime DEVOURMENT skinsman Brad Fincher. The band are said to be looking for a bass player to complete the group's lineup.
DEVOURMENT released the "Impaled" demo in 1997, featuring Wayne Knupp on vocals, Mike Majewski on bass, Brian Wynn on guitar, Kevin Clark on guitar and Brad Fincher on the drums. The group's first full-length album, "Molesting the Decapitated", followed in 1999, featuring Rosas on vocals. The band broke up at the end of 1999 when Rosas went to prison for 2½ years. Upon his release in 2002, Rosas put together a new DEVOURMENT lineup, featuring guitarists Robert Moore and Kevin Clark (later to be replaced by Chris Hutto of INGURGITATE),Jeremy Peterson on drums, and Joseph Fontenot (currently of JACKNIFE) on bass. They played a few gigs before disbanding once again. The third incarnation of DEVOURMENT are due to release their long-awaited second full-length album, "Butcher the Weak", later in the year though an as-yet-undetermined label.
